It’s a matter of immense pride and privilege for me to lead the Centre for Electronics and Digital Communication (CEDCO), one of the finest communication and IT training institutions of the Force. CEDCO was established on 04th Oct 1990 with a mission to promote the process of developing, integrating, sharing and applying knowledge on telecommunication and information technology for the benefit and efficiency of the entire Force. The institution was empowered and energized to meet the challenges confronting communication set up by adopting to most modern technologies available and also in the offing. Today CEDCO conducts basic training and in-service courses for communication personnel of BSF and also conducts courses on latest communication technologies including modern computer subjects like Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Forensics. So far CEDCO has trained over 28,878 Communication personnel which includes personnel of other CAPFs, state police and foreign nationals.
Over the years, owing to constant progress taking place in the field of communication worldwide, the institution has been upgraded and modernised by adapting to the new challenges and by incorporating modern technology. It possess state-of-the-art training facilities, VHF and HF labs and Smart classrooms to provide best indoor and outdoor training including hands on practical classes on these subjects. Apart from the course curriculum, regular lectures by eminent guest faculties and industry experts are also conducted to provide comprehensive modern technological domain knowledge on the subject.
Apart from the course syllabus, extra-curricular activities also form key part of training curriculum at Centre for Electronics and Digital Communication (CEDCO) Bengaluru. Group discussions, seminars, project fabrication, etc. are conducted to enhance the creativity and capabilities among trainees. Sports activities like volleyball, cricket, football, basketball, and other troop games are compulsorily organized for overall personality development. Movies/Documentaries are screened every Saturday at State of the art Tarang auditorium for entertainment and learning.
As head of the Institution, I would want the instructors to strive hard for excellence through persistent upgradation of their skills so that they excel in imparting training to our communication personnel. Their tenacity and perseverance alone can bring excellence to CEDCO.
